What documents are required for an Iranian visa?

If you are neither an Iranian nor a citizen of visa-exempt countries, then you must have a valid Iranian visa to enter the country. Applying for an Iran Visa is relatively easy and you should be able to obtain your visa quickly in case you have the required documents. Do I need a Visa for Iran?

Most foreign nationals need a visa and a passport valid for at least 6 months to enter Iran. However, citizens of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Georgia, Lebanon, Malaysia, Syria, and Turkey traveling as tourists can enter visa-free for tourism. They will be granted permission for short-term stay upon arrival.

Visitors from outside the above mentioned countries must apply for a visa in advance. They need to go to an Iranian embassy or consulate to apply for a visa or they can apply for an e-Visa online.

Iran Visa Requirements

When you go to an Iranian embassy/consulate to get an Iran tourist visa or submit your application online for an e-Visa, you will need the following documents:

  • A passport valid up to six months after the end date of your trip to Iran. Your passport should have two blank pages.
  • An English copy of your travel insurance policy, clearly stating that it covers trips to Iran. You need to have travel insurance upon arrival at Iran’s airports. You can purchase the insurance via HelloPersia services or at the airport.
  • Payment slip of the visa stamp fee. If you want to collect your visa at an Iranian airport, you should pay the visa stamp fee in cash.
  • Two passport-size photos.
  • Visa application form, filled out and signed.
  • A copy of the confirmation email containing your visa authorization code. (if you have applied online)

Europeans except UK nationals qualify for Iran Visa on Arrival. They can buy a flight ticket to Iran and get their visas on arrival at the airport. Iran Visa Requirements for Pakistanis

National of Pakistan cannot obtain an Iran Visa on Arrival. They need to visit an Iranian embassy/consulate and apply for an Iranian visa there.
