Iran has a 6-day workweek which starts on Saturday and ends on Thursday. Friday is the weekend. Some companies and state organizations work only for half a day on Thursdays. Public holidays in Iran are of two types: national holidays and religious ones. The national holidays are observed according to the Persian calendar while the religious holidays are marked according to the Islamic lunar calendar.
