Mashhad has become a hot tourist destination. Each year some 30 million Iranian and foreign pilgrims visit Imam Reza’s holy shrine in the city. Besides its religious significance, Mashhad’s historical monuments and recreational attractions play an in important role in drawing tourists.
Mashhad has one of the largest indoor water parks in the middle-east. Adventurers can try thrilling free-fall water slides as well as wave surfing at the exciting roofed water parks. They offer wave pools, waterfalls, raging rivers, slow and fast slides, black holes, space holes, saunas, and Jacuzzis. The parks also boast roaring 20-meter high waterfalls and roller coasters.

The world’s largest dry and steam saunas are located in “Mojhaye Khorushan Water Park”. The park also features massage rooms and traditional baths. There are coffee shops and restaurants providing refreshments and fast food in the water parks, which prove helpful after spending so many calories on different activities.
In line with Islamic principles, there are male/female days. “Iranian Water Park”, “Sarzamin-e Mojhay-e Abi” and “Mojhaye Khorushan” are among other recreational attractions in Mashhad.
