It’s no exaggeration to say that the history of Persian literature can be read from inscriptions on cliffs, mosques, towers, mausoleums, mansions and paintings. From Elamite cuneiform to Sassanian Pahlavi scripts, from Early Islamic Kufic to present Nasta’liq calligraphy, you will comprehend hidden beauties of Persian literature.

Itinerary

Itinerary

Day 1
Ahvaz
The tour begins in Ahvaz. After arrival at Ahvaz airport, you will be transferred to the hotel to get some rest. Then we leave for Shushtar city (958 km) late in the morning to visit the amazing historical hydraulic system. Then we return to Ahvaz.
Day 2
Izeh
On our second day in Khuzestan Province, we visit Izeh (180 km) to learn more about Elamites through the reliefs in Eshkaft-e Salman and Kool Farah.
Day 3
Khorramabad
We leave Ahvaz in the morning to go to Khorramabad (330 km). On the way, we visit the Chogha Zanbil World Heritage Site and Haft-Tappeh Museum which are considered outstanding mementos from Elamites in Iran. After arrival in Khorramabad, we visit Falak-ol-Aflak Castle which is a significant Sassanian monument.
Day 4
Kermanshah
We leave Khorramabad late in the morning, heading to Kermanshah (310 km). However, there is enough time to visit more highlights in the city including Sang Nebeshteh (stone inscription) and Brick Tower. After arrival in Kermanshah, we go to Bisotun Historical Complex (45 km) and its magnificent mythical relief.
Day 5
Kermanshah
We leave hotel after breakfast to continue our visits including Taq-e Bostan area and reliefs as well as Tekyeh Mo’aven al-Molk. In the evening, we have some time to visit the local shops and buy some local sweets.
Day 6
Hamedan
The next stop is Hamedan. We leave the hotel after breakfast and visit Anahita Temple on the way before arriving in Hamedan (185 km) at noon. We have enough time to visit the tomb of Babataher and Ganjnameh inscriptions after lunchtime.
Day 7
Hamedan
We visit Alavian Dome from the Seljuk period and the tomb of Avicenna. In the afternoon we will visit the Tomb of Esther and Mordechai which is believed to be the most important pilgrimage site for Jews in Iran. For the day’s final visit, we go to the remnants of Ecbatana city or Hegmataneh which was the capital of Medians.
Day 8
Isfahan
Next stop is Isfahan (510 km). We leave Hamedan and head to one of the most beautiful cities of Iran with a stop in Delijan to have lunch.
Day 9
Isfahan
We are going to spend an unforgettable day in Isfahan. First we go to the world-famous Naqsh-e Jahan Square with four highlighted sites located around it: Imam Mosque, Sheikh Lotfullah Mosque, Ali Qapu and the Traditional Bazaar. After enjoying our lunchtime near one of the world’s largest squares, we head to Hasht Behesht and Chehel Sotun Palace.
Day 10
Shiraz
We leave hotel to head to one of most charming cities of Iran, Shiraz (480 km). On the way we visit Pasargadae, the remnants of the first Persian Garden and the tomb of the most popular king of ancient Persia, Cyrus the Great. Then we get to Shiraz at night.
Day 11
Shiraz
The day starts with a visit to Karim Khan Citadel right in the center of the city. Then we go to Vakil historical complex with its bath, bazaar and mosque. Enjoying our lunch time in the heart of the city, we then go to Narenjestan-e Qavam garden. With its mystic atmosphere at night, the Hafez tomb will become one of the everlasting scenes from Iran in our minds.
Day 12
Shiraz
Our second day in Shiraz is dedicated to visiting Persepolis (60 km from Shiraz). It is home to glorious monuments of the ancient civilization of Persia with a total area of 125,000 square meters. Afterwards we go to Naqsh-e Rostam relief which is close to Persepolis. We then return to the hotel after entering the city through Quran Gate.
Day 13
Tehran
In order to visit the capital of Iran on our last days in Iran, we leave Shiraz in the morning. We have our lunch in Tehran (1hr 15 min flight) then head to Tehran’s mountainous area Darband foe some light trekking, enjoying the natural scenery and breathing in fresh air.
Day 14
Tehran
On our last day in Iran, we focus on learning more about the history of the capital. So we go to Golestan Palace Complex, visiting its royal palaces and then visit the National Museum of Iran. After lunchtime we go to the National Jewelry Museum of Iran. At night we enjoy our farewell dinner in Iran at a traditional restaurant.
Day 15
Leaving Iran
And finally it’s time to bid farewell to Iran as we are transferred to the airport early in the morning for our return flight home.
