Experience Iran in a 2-week trip by visiting the country’s current and previous capitals. Itinerary

Itinerary

Day 1
Tehran
Our tour of Iran begins in Tehran. After arrival at Imam Khomeini International Airport and transfer to hotel and some rest, we will visit Sa'ad Abad Palace Complex in the morning. Then we head to Tehran’s mountainous area Darband for some light trekking, enjoying the beautiful natural scenery and breathing in some fresh air.
Day 2
Tehran
To learn about the history of Iran’s capital, we visit more highlights such as Golestan Palace Complex and Iran National Museum. After enjoying our second Iranian lunch, we visit the National Jewelry Museum. We then go to Qasr Museum which is one of Iran’s oldest jails for political prisoners. Then we take the opportunity to watch some Pahlevani and Zoorkhaneh rituals in the evening.
Day 3
Isfahan
We leave hotel early in the morning and have our breakfast at one of the restaurants on the way to Kashan (250 km). In Kashan, we visit some highlights such as the famous Fin Garden and some of the city’s historical houses. After lunch, we will be back on the track to Isfahan, one of the most beautiful cities of Iran (220 km from Kashan).
Day 4
Isfahan
We are going to spend two unforgettable days in Isfahan. First we go to the world-famous Naqsh-e Jahan Square with four highlighted sites located around it: Imam Mosque, Sheikh Lotfullah Mosque, Ali Qapu and the Traditional Bazaar. After enjoying our lunchtime near one of the world’s largest squares, we head to Hasht Behesht and Chehel Sotun Palace.
Day 5
Isfahan
On our second day in Isfahan, or “Half of the World” as its earliest travelers have described, we visit Vank Cathedral and then the minarets which move: Menar Jonban. The city is home to many historical bridges on the Zayandehrud River. We visit two of these picturesque bridges, namely Si-o-se-pol and Khajou Bridge after lunchtime. Then it’s time to visit Jameh Mosque of Isfahan, a stunning example of the evolution of the mosque architecture over twelve centuries in Iran.
Day 6
Yazd
We leave hotel after breakfast to continue our way to Yazd, the center of the Zoroastrian culture in Iran (320 km). On our way we go to Naein to visit its unique 17th-century mosque. Then we get familiar with traditional Persian residential architectural elements in Meybod and have launch. We continue to Yazd then and arrive at the hotel at night.
Day 7
Yazd
This is our first day in the city of mud-brick homes. To take the most out of it we visit Yazd’s Jameh Mosque with its magnificent tiled entrance, and then enjoy walking in one of oldest towns on earth, feeling the rich history of Yazd’s old city. After lunchtime we head to Dolat Abad Garden which hosts Iran’s loftiest wind-catcher, with a heigh of over 33 meters. We finish the day by going to the Amir Chakhmaq Complex, a stunning three-story façade.
Day 8
Yazd
On the second day in the desert city of Yazd, we visit Iran’s most important Zoroastrian temple in Chak-Chak village. Then we return to Yazd (70 km) and visit the Fire Temple, and Ab-Anbar (cistern) with 6 Badgirs (wind-catchers).
Day 9
Kerman
We leave Yazd for Kerman (370 km) in the morning. After a short stop in Zein-o-din Caravansary we arrive at the hotel in the afternoon.
Day 10
Kerman
We visit Bam (190 km) which is the world’s largest mud-brick village. While returning to Kerman, on the way back we visit Shazdeh Garden in the middle pf desert in Mahan and return to hotel afterwards.
Day 11
Kerman
To learn more about the history of city, we go to Ganjali Khan Historic Complex which includes a historical bath, a school, a mosque, a cistern and a traditional bazaar. Then we head to Jabalieh Dome and visit the stone museum. By the evening we return to hotel.
Day 12
Shiraz
On this day we leave hotel after breakfast to continue our way to one of the most charming cities of Iran, Shiraz (570 km). On our way, we have a lunch break at Estahban before traveling to Shiraz. We arrive in the city in the evening.
Day 13
Shiraz
We start the day by visiting Pasargadae, the remnants of the first Persian Garden and the tomb of the most popular king of ancient Iran, Cyrus the Great. Then we head to Persepolis (60 km from Shiraz). It is the site of glorious monumental ruins of the ancient civilization of Persia with a total area of 125,000 square meters. After having lunch and visiting Naqsh-e Rostam relief which is close to Persepolis, we return to hotel while entering the city through Quran Gate.
Day 14
Shiraz
The second and last day in Shiraz starts with visiting Karim Khan Citadel right in the center of the city. Then we go to Vakil historical complex with its bath, bazaar and mosque. Enjoying our lunch time in the heart of the city, we then go to Narenjestan-e Qavam garden and Nasir al-Mulk Mosque. With its mystic atmosphere at night, the Hafez tomb will become one of the everlasting scenes from Iran in our minds. It will be complemented with a farewell dinner at a traditional restaurant.
Day 15
Leaving Iran
And finally it’s time to bid farewell to Iran as we are transferred to the airport early in the morning for our return flight home.
